Define stereotypes and describe the ways that stereotypes are measured.

 A stereotype is an over-generalized belief about a particular category of people. It is an expectation that people might have about every person of a particular group.

Classifying stereotypes. Describe the different types of stereotypes:  (Gender, Religion, Cultural, Racial, Sex orientation, Others (eating habits, dressing habits….) 

Gender: behaviour, style. Religion: clothes, behaviour, food, rites Cultural: personality, habits Racial: language, education, smartness. 

Advantages and disadvantages to stereotyping (positive and negative stereotypes).  

 Disadvantage: they can contribute to make a bad society, they can be bad and people may assume something about you, without knowing anything about your life
Advantages: may assume something great about you, and be treated different. But we think they aren’t advantages about stereotypes
