Stereotype: A set idea that people have about what someone or something is like, especially an idea that is wrong.
Example:
- racial/sexual stereotypes
- He doesn't conform to/fit/fill the national stereotype of a Frenchman. - The characters in the book are just stereotypes.
Religion stereotypes: behavior and look
- “Like guys or girls way too much”
- “My personality doesn’t fit the religious life” - “I can find a husband/wife. I’m attractive”
- “I’m too smart to become a nun or a priest”
Gender: behavior and emotional
- Men are strong and do all the work.
- Women can't do as good of a job as a man. - Girls are not good at sports.
- Guys are messy and unclean.
Culturals: behavior and look
- All white Americans are obese and lazy.
- All Arabs and Muslims are terrorists.-
-All Blacks outside of the United States are poor.
- All Asians are good at math.
